Gilda: I Am Here

I took many pictures of the views of the city. Each time I look at the other side, I see my town. I see houses that are not buildings. I see things different than what I remember, but I need to realize that I am here. I’m on this side. I don’t identify myself with this city because it is not my root… but I am here. I need to plant my feet on the ground. This is where I live. I don’t want to lose my culture, but I have to adapt. The picture is saying ‘I am here, I am here.’

Yo tomé muchas fotos de vistas de la ciudad. Cada vez que miro al otro lado, veo mi pueblo. Lo que veo son casas, no edificios. Veo las cosas diferente a lo que recuerdo, pero tengo que
darme cuenta de que estoy aquí. Estoy de este lado. No me identifico con esta ciudad porque no es mi raíz... pero estoy aquí. Necesito plantar mis pies en la tierra. Esto es donde vivo. No quiero perder mi cultura, pero tengo que adaptarme. Esta foto está diciendo: “¡Estoy aquí, estoy aquí!”
